Can you do damage if you pee too much in a day

I have bph. On medication but still have to pee a lot in a day. I would say I have to go on average about 10 times in a day. I drink about 1-2litres of water a day. Some times I may pee and then 15min later do another pee as I didn't empty my bladder properly.  I assume this happens to most people with bph, is it dangerous to pee to many times in a day?

2nd question is I drink bottle water out if the fridge that is very chilled, I was told you are better drinking water at room temp. As cold water can irritate the bladder/prostate and make you pee more.  I am trying to eliminate the things that will make me wee more, someone mentioned antihistamines which I have stopped taking 2 days ago. Any info would be grateful.

It depends on the cause of the frequent voiding. If it's solely overactive bladder syndrome, then no damage but there are treatments. If the frequent voiding is because of a post void residual (PVR) caused by an obstruction (ie BPH/LUTS) then there could be damage to both bladder and kidneys depending on how much of a PVR you have. Are you seeing a urologist? By this point he should have at a minimum done a DRE, Uroflow test, office bladder scan and Ultrasound bladder/kidney study. Once you have these tests and a proper diagnosis you can go on from there. I don't think your problems will be significantly changed by the temperature of the water you drink.

After you pee, do you feel like you still have to go? I would think that cold water would warm up quickly once you drink it. so I doubt it irritates your urinary tract. Carbonated water may be a different situation.

Frequent urination may not be harmful unless you have post void residual. I am sure this aspect must have been checked by your Doc. If not, should be done through US. Personally I feel cold water does create frequent urination to some extent. Good luck to you.

Hi Darren, I have the same problem and I am emailing to save you from wrecking your bladder and kidneys, I am greatfull my first urologist said to me "what ever you do dont push when you pee" so I did what they said and now years later had a camera inserted which shows a little bladder damage but it would have been far worse if they had not told me, also dont rush into drugs or turp which does some serious and permanent damage which I chose to avoid, find out what your specific problem is and do your internet homework and watch out for the drug side affects!
