Can you pass laxative and still be retaining hard matter?

Ok well I started suffering with constipation about last May. And I say suffering because I often get unbelievably painful cramping. I had to stay in hospital because of a blockage at one point too.
So I get constipated fairly often, my Gp has laxido and lactulose on repeat prescription.
Anyways... This particular instance (I pre-apologise for the grimness)..
I tried to "go" yesterday but it was solid as usual.. So rather than wait until the pain started I took 6 sachets of laxido.. Managed to go a tiny bit, watery but only in dribbles...
So this morning I woke up and went to work, but started having aweful cramps, so came home and tried one of the suppositories that dr have me last time, nothing happened for over an hour, no "urge" to go, so I tried and again dribble.
So then I tried more laxido... 8sachets.
So I've had a gush of liquid. Not as much as I'd have expected.
So my question is... Could the laxido pass through me and still have hard stools in my bowel?
