Can you see your tendons?

I remember when I got the cortisone injection in the wrist, my surgeon said "normally I can see the tendons in the wrist and arm when the patient are asked to move their fingers, but in your case I can't see them - they're well hidden inside your arms". How about you? Can you see your tendons while moving the fingers?

It's a good sign if you & they can see the tendons. It showed I had my tendons very deep in my hand. That's why they are invisible. I'm not fat or anything (no fat to cover the tendons), just normal forearms. When the tendons are deep down in the hand, the closer it gets to the median nerve - even if you don't have cts. In my case the tendons were also in a mess, on top of each other in an unnormal way. It was therefore more difficult for the surgeon to 1) get me the cortisone injection in February and 2) give me the anestethic syringe and cut in March during the surgery, because he couldn't see where they were at all. "No matter how many thousands hands I've done, it's always a lottery where to cut", he said just before the cut. That was scary!

Thats definitely something you dont want to hear before the cut lol..im just small frame with tiny hands. .I bought a new brace of amazon recommend by a lady on here as ive been using the NHS one..used the new one for bed last night and woke with terrible pins and needles and numbness came downstairs for the old one and that made no difference either. I think ive either over done it at work or the hand is just getting worse I see the consultant next monday but under no illusion of being any further forward till they do the nerve test..im not sure if your from the UK im guessing America but what did they do when they conducted the nerve test ? Thanks

Here they only do nerve test if they're not sure you have cts or not, to confirm the diagnosis. The waiting list for a nerve test was almost half a year. Sweden.

Make sure not to wear the brace too tight! Remember, the arms and hands can get a bit swollen during the night, so the brace must be adjusted for that.

Good luck w the nerve test!

Nerve tests are something very good to have done though. They're an optimal way to compare operation results - before and after surgery. But other examinations could be of interest and great value also: ultrasound examinations and MRIs. Both could give the answers.

So your from Sweden? Yes the gp said that the consultant make ask for a scan or xray of my neck as I also get a bit of pain from that. .but yes the nerve test I think is best as it will eliminate things..time will tell..
