Hello:) Sorry to hear you are having such a terrible time with anxiety. I am 36 and I have had anxiety since I was 8. its a hard thing to do but when i am flooded with physical symptoms i try to just let them come and go. it takes some practice but you have to just tell yourself this is from axiety and let that thought go. the more you concentrate on it the stronger the feelings get. i would suggest watching some prefessionals on you tube that talk ablout panic attacks. the thing that has helpes me the moat is neuroplasticity which you can google along side anxiety or on youtube.

thanks for your reply. can i ask how you have learned to know what symptoms are anxiety and what are due to something else? also do you experience dizziness, this is the one that is effecting me the most as i can be in work (not feeling anxious at all) and will suddenly become dizzy and lightheaded and need to go and sit down for 5 minutes. it leaves me panicky and nauseaous and i dont understand how anxiety makes you dizzy. do you also get the physical symptoms when you dont actually feel anxious or stressed. thanks for the tips i will look into the videos

Suzanne....it's been my experience that anxiety IS physical.....that's always how it manifests itself in me anyway!

    hello Suzanne,

i suffer from gad and symptoms were so severe about 3 yrs ago, especially the dizziness so i understand your concern. it's a daily grind for sure but at some point i think the body just becomes tired of worrying. it was at this point where i noticed symptoms fading somewhat and some days didn't notice at all. health anxiety has always been extreme for me and still struggle with it. yet, here i am still able to function and still the same weight more or less. again, it's very frustrating some days and just mentally exhausting. i don't medicate and have in the past, but just don't want to rely on it anymore; just masks the problem.

again, i can't stress enough but at one point i just didn't care anymore about the symptoms. it got to the point where i was more annoyed rather than frightened or scared. once i evolved into this frame of mind the symptoms were much less severe. i've had every symptom as well. likewise, when i go to the grocery store around a lot of ppl or whatever sometimes i'll feel weird or uneasy. symptoms will also appear when i'm not anxious. many times i'll have to look back and think...oh 3 days ago i was stressed over work, quite likely physical symptoms are showing up now.

this state of hypersensitivity or hyper-stimulation is terrible and it still amazes me what anxiety can do. i'm assuming your doctor has run tests and checked you thoroughly. even so, i know several people who had trouble moving their hands or walking properly due to extreme anxiety. anyway, good luck. sadly, worry is at the root of it all and it's true when it's suggested to eliminate worry to improve. i wish it was that easy.

I have had the symptoms of anxiety since childhood, but was tolerable,in my mid 20s had panic attacks, learned to cope with them. I refused to take meds to help. Around 50 I developed health issues and finally thought enoughs enough, I now take an anxiety med daily, prescribed by my doctor,it has issues such as withdrawal should I ever stop taking them, but honestly I had to weigh the bad with the good. It allows me to at least have a life with more tolerable anxiety.

Suzanne...this is only my opinion of course, but I feel one reaches a point in their life when what's the point in struggling anymore!

I realize anxiety meds. (probably benzos I suspect) are addictive.....but if taken properly, they can be a "God send"!

the whole idea is to take them as prescribed!

I'm certain you reach a stage when you need medication to live a normal lufe!

suzanne...youre not alone. as someone said,i think, the more you focus on them or foght them, the worse it gets. x10 when anxious amd panicking. ive been in a state of high anxiety abd minor panic attacks for a week now, due to a bad dizzy spell. Ran to ER with no answers. Been freaking everyday now.

loose bowels, nausea, shakes, chills and tremors. Feel weak, no balance and jelly legs. scared to have more dizzies, if i do get lightheaded,i start to panic again. They gave me a few ativan until a drs appt i have on the third. Scared of drs too so of coursee im even more on edge.

i know distraction and being active can lesson symptoms but it can be hard when you camt stop feeling them or thinking about them. HUGS
