Can You take 2 different brands at once ?

I've been given 75mg and 37.5mg tablets in order to increase my dosage but the 2 tablets are a different brand.

Is it ok to take 2 different brands at once or is it best to take the same brand ?

I have been using Exeffor since i started and now need to go up in my dosage, I wanted to go up gently so asked for 37.5mg instead of going straight upto 150mg. The problem is Exeffor don't make a 37.5mg tablet so i was given a brand that does make it.

Wondering if it's would be better to stick to the same brand and go up to 150mg or start with the other brand of tablet so that the increase isn't as dramatic.

Thanks for reading.

you are going to get 2 answers to this one, so you will need to choose. personally, i dont think there is any difference, but lots of people think there are. i thought perhaps the capsules could break down differently, thus causing issues. seeing as you are not replacing the 75mg, it will be still effexor, pretty sure you will be fine taking the 37.5mg. i 100% believe you should increase ven in 37.5mg increments, as they are much easier to overcome. 75mg increases are quite a large increase. its 33% of the general max dose of 225mg. actual max if warranted/justified is 375mg, Think issues of 2 brands would be minimal, if any, certainly less than increasing by 75mg.

I agree with nigel. Slow increases work best. The active ingrdients in different brands are the same. The rate of release into your body may vary depending on tablets, capsules, slow release version etc. But the important issue is to take gradual increases or decreases in the medication. As a long time user, wishing you the best.
