Quite normal, especially when you're young.

Ruby, I'm wondering how old you are. This kind of thing is very common in teenagers.

I see from another of your posts that you've had blood tests for vitamin D. That doesn't make a lot of sense. It's always useful to check vit D levels, of course, but lack of this vitamin wouldn't cause your symptoms.

Were you tested for anaemia, diabetes, thyroid function? All of these conditions could cause excessive sleepiness. If you are a teenager, it would also be useful to be tested to see whether you've had a recent viral infection. Infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever in UK, kissing disease in US) is a common culprit. It's pretty harmless but can leave you feeling wiped out for a few months afterwards.

You've mentioned in another post something about your muscles not working properly. How severe is this? I mean, do you suddenly fall to the ground when in the grip of any emotion, particularly laughter?

If you've seen a doctor and you've really had full blood tests, then I think you need to be reassured, especially if you are very young. Most of us go through periods of health anxiety in our teens.

If you haven't had all the above blood tests, perhaps you should insist on getting them done, just to be sure.

Im 17, once I went to a doctor and he told me to check my vitamin d, and no I wasnt because this goes away and comes back, its not excessive sleepiness its like Im normal/having a normal day and I would start yawning suddenly and my mind would turn off ??? And no the muscle weakness is also on and off it just comes randomly all of this is happening at random times and I have no idea why, also I have never kissed anyone so I dont know about the viral infection, the doctors have done the basics (i think) they said if something was wrong it would show in that blood test

      Hi Ruby,

If you've had all the blood tests done and the doctor has said you're OK, I suspect this is just one of those phases that many teenagers go through. I can't give you any specific advice or a diagnosis, this is just a patient forum not a medical site.

If you're still worried then you need to go back to the doctor.

I hope you get some answers.

hmm, ive been to like 5 doctors they told me to ignore all these things since there is nothing wrong with me, I really hope it is a phrase, it does go away completely sometimes but comes back away at random
