Oh Sarah, I am so sorry. I know how long you have been waiting. You poor thing. Can you go to he very top of the cancellation list did they say?

It is very tough being cancelled, it happened to me too, and the disappointment and unpicking all the arrangements etc, not to mention the mental preparation needed just before an operation, the stress and anxiety. I am so sorry this has happened to you as well, but I am certain you will be a high priority for them I am sure of that.

    Big hugs.

Mine was cancelled due DVT. After 'looking forward' to op, it sure takes the wind out your sails.

Okay, that's s**t, really s**t ..........now stamp your feet, cry, wail, thump something and then sit down and say "It's not the end of the world"

Your operation will still go ahead and I truly believe everything happens for a reason, maybe this needed to happen.

I send you stength and peace to be collected after you have raged!

Sarah, I got cancelled for 6 weeks - I was devastated because I had geared myself up for it. I was so upset and angry for a few hours and then I thought "Do you what? This is the rest of my life, I can wait a few weeks".

Turns out my surgeon had to go back to South Africa for a family emergency. I forgave him...eventually!

Oh no, that is awful for you, but it is a problem with larger NHS hospitals, with outbreaks of winter illnesses, emergency situations, and doctors strikes.

Get back in that queue, hopefully near the top, or take a cancellation if you can.

Hope you get a new appointment soon, and get the hip seen to.

    Hugs and best wishes

You are bearing the extra pain very well there Sarah, I would be gutted.

Luckily I was on NHS but in a private hospital which has no A&E department, and not subject to junior doctor strikes either, so barring winter illnesses much less likely to cancel or postpone.

I did notice that yesterday, they were making absolutely everyone who came in use the anti bacterial hand gel as a precaution.  There must have been at least 6 dispensers in the reception area alone.
