**Absolutely furious ...Took mam today for a medical for her esa ...she is in the support group and is on the higher rates of both pip and mobility for 10yrs ....We sat there for an hour to be told the medical was cancelled as they were running too late .....Mam refused to go into hospital for treatment yesterday as she knew she had to attend this medical ..She has rheumatoid and osteo arthritis throughout her body is crippled and is ill with a chest /lung infection and strep throat ....Was in A/E for 6 hours at the weekend ...We dragged her to this appointment to be told go home ........**Mam was obviously upset and all the receptionist could say was don't get upset it is our fault .....Well hell yeah it is your fault ....So here we go the waiting game again ...the stress of having to go there and the worry of what is going to happeN ........... What if anything can be done ....She should not be there in the first instance and even the 6 people in the waiting room could not beleive mam was there...any advice ....This will kill mam ...

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear this happened today. Unfortunately, it does happen, if appointments before your mum's today went over or lasted longer than expected then this the courses issues for other appointments after them. They also need to have time to write the report after the assessment has taken place or at least finish writing it. If an appointment is later in the day then there's more chance of it being canceled.

You can write a complaint to the health assessment advisory service but don't expect any feed back or any to happen. Appointments go over for almost everything for example Consultant appointments, GP appointments.

If towards the end of the day the HCP thinks that there's not enough of time to do the assessment and write the report then they will cancel further appointments for that day.

As for attending the assessment then most people have face to face assessments, it's rare to have a paper based one. Her PIP award will have no relevance to her ESA work capability assessment because they are different benefits, with very different criteria.

Hopefully she won't be waiting too long for another appointment and this time it will go ahead as planned. Good luck.

Hi ...She is only 56 ..... She has been crippled for the last 6 yrs gradually getting worse ....SHe actually broke down and begged them to see her yesterday she was in so much pain ...She has had strep throat for over 2wks and a severe chest infection ...the drs wanted to admit her to hospital on sunday and she refused because she wanted this medical over and done with ....her hands and feet are so bent with arthritis she cant hold a pen or walk properly unaided ...After getting up and down several times with my help and coughing so much she was sick ....The emotion just got too much for her ....It is heartbreaking having to drag her there a 20 min journey takes us over an hour( after several attempts to get her out of the house)....She was so distressed and upset ...Just awful
