Candesartan, Amlodipine and Grapeseed extract

I was on 5mg Amlodipine for many years and about 3 years ago my GP added 4mg candesartan. I have suffered with bleeding gums and didnt think it could be a side effect of amlodipine. Thought candesartan was the culprit.
My nice young dentist was wondering if it was actually the amlodipine causing because another of her patients on this was experiencing similar problems. She wrote to my GP asking them to contact me and perhaps review my medication. Heard nothing, so made an appointment to see a GP last week.
He immediately stopped amlodipine but increased the candesartan to 8mg a day. GP wants me to monitor my BP at home after a week on this medication. I have read all about the numerous side-effects of this med, one of them being flu/cold like symptoms. I have developed a runny nose, slight sore throat, mild headaches and aching knees.
Has anyone experienced similar problems.
I am thinking of also taking grapeseed extract in addition to candesartan.
Looking forward to some feedback.

I have been on the same regime for several years now and have all the same symptoms that you have detailed..
My dentist wanted me to see a specialist costing £200 about my bleeding gums which thankfully I did not take up as I already knew that Amlodiopine caused this effect.
The Cold/Flu symptoms are on going , its one as they say one after another cold with about a week intervals, it is a nuisance.
There are many discussions about this regime and its benefits suffice to say if you can put up with the continuous colds/flu symptoms and the aches and pains in your joints and muscles plus now the itchyness which is another symptom I have its a case of sticking with it or risk more serious complications such as a heart attack or a stroke .
Incidentally I did read somewhere on no account take anything like Grapefruit Juice with these medicines as they react with each other . Maybe you should research it on Google

I recently joined a HBP forum on facebook and was amazed so many people are having similar symptoms. I am bothered by the flu/cold symptoms though. One lady on the forum said that the symptoms lasted for almost a year.
Oh yes, I also get the itchyness. I agree to avoid any complications it is perhaps better to stick to this regime. I am going on a long haul flight in August and it would be such a nuisance when travelling.
I dont ever take grapefruit, but grapeseeds are different from grapefruit seeds I think.
Thank you for sharing.
