My husband was prescribed 2 mg Candesartan following a bout of Atrial Fibrillation in May. Recently the Heart Failure Nurse Specialist increased dosage to 4mg then 8mg with the possibility of rising to 32mg subject to monitoring.
He has started having lower backache since the second increase - is this a common side-effect?

Well "back pain" seems to be on the list, but so is pretty nearly everything!
I see that candesartan dose can vary from 4mg to 32mg, quite a wide range.
I wouldn't assume it is the drug at this point.
OTOH using ACE/ARB drugs for afib is sort of indirect, unless there are also blood pressure issues, or other drugs are already being taken?

It could be either slight muscle damage or a kidney, liver infection.
