cannot beilve this

On the bus yesterday a lady started chatting to me, she is a carer for a gentleman who has Polymyalgia.

She said to me you will not have heard of it as i dont know anybody else who has this.

She said i feel so sorry for him as he cannot have the medication as he has Alzheimer ,

I felt so sorry to hear this , but the lady did know a little bit about our condition and watches out for him.

I wish i could find me people so we could form a group as it would be nice to speak to someone else about this.

How awful, to have this pain/problem and not to be able to take Pred.  I don't know how people cope.  We try, and we know about the illness, can find help, understanding, etc.  Poor man!

Greetings to you Margaret.  Have a nice, pain free day.

    C.💐

Try asking local GP practices if you can put up a notice - they can't give you any details but they CAN give other people YOUR contact details. Often once you find one person nearby they may know someone else and it snowballs. It doesn't have to be an official group - just meeting at a cafe or having a pub lunch does just the same thing and doesn't require funding to hire a venue or pay for speakers.

Margaret, what a coincidence.  It does help to put things into perspective doesn't it.  With regard to a support group in your area, perhaps your local community centre would be happy to display a little poster from you asking if there is anyone with PMR who may be interested in getting in touch.  Even the GP surgery may display it, although I know some surgeries are not always very helpful in this respect.

Hi Mrs O again, i have just read your comments about aspargus(spelt wrong by me), and when i had kidneyy infections my doctor to me to eat it, but not overdo it as it can have an adverse reaction(in other words make it worse, ) i tried this after the antibiotics she gave me and hey presto no problems since fingers crossed, so now i include it im my weekly meals.

Margaret, how wonderful to hear of a GP who offers helpful suggestions about natural dietary remedies.  Didn't think such GPs existed these days!  I I love asparagus, eating it several times a week and often choose it as a starter in restaurants if it's on the menu, as I did last Saturday evening.

I eat it a lot in season - but when they grow it down the road and you get it a few hours after it was harvested the stuff from Peru doesn't really do anything for me!

In winter I use 'foreign' asparagus in soups , and I also mix it with peas and sweet corn for a light vegetable side dish.

Not an option for me - but Italian, Austrian and German are all fairly close and freshly delivered in season. Italian has been finished for a few weeks, the rest must be just about finished this week sad

Take care and enjoy the rest.

Still happily getting the home-grown variety - my present supply is from Herefordshire (M&S).

No, German is best!  Must admit I haven't tried Italian, though!

If we're going to be picky I wholeheartedly agree that Bavarian asparagus is by far the best - this year I have had Italian from Terlan (good but eyewateringly expensive), Austria (very good) and Garmisch Partenkirchen in Germany (the best and very reasonably priced). Big, fat, white spears where 3 or 4 was plenty  - yum! They do grow green asparagus in Italy - I think white is definitely nicer. Even if you do have to peel it - thank goodness for a Lancashire peeler!
