Cannot get into GI Doc until October - Mass found in Liver by MRI

I am actually asking for my sister.  She has had elevated enzyems for quite some time.  They finally changed drastically and she was sent in for a MRI a week later.  History - she had her Galbladder removed about 4-5 years ago, and it was BAD.  So MRI shows a mass near the Bile Duct they believe.  Says could be a stone, or could be a tumor.  She has been trying for 3 weeks to get her doctor to get her an appointment with a GI doctor.  First one said not until Nov, new one is now getting her in Oct 12.....I am just so worried that if she does have cancer this is waiting too long.  Blood work - ALT 252 - AST 242 ALP (I think) 762....What can we do or do you think she can wait that long? Worried sister here is all.  Thanks in advance.

    Do you know which Gi consultant you are going to see,if you do I would ring the hospital and ask if you could have a earlier app.

    I had to wait 10 week but I like you was really worried so I went to see specialist private, but kept my nhs appointment as well.

    I have fatty liver and told to lose weight, I lost 7 Ib and my ALT & AST have gone down.I wasn't over weight to start with.I'm still waiting for some results ftom the blood test done in April.

    I've found little help from GP and liver clinic,I have found more info on line.

    I would go back yo your GP and ask some questions.

    I always think that if I needed urgent care I would have had a earlier app.

    I don't after go back to hospital for 2

    Years.

    was this MRI that found the "mass" very recent, presume not one that diagnosed the gallbladder 4 years ago! If the MRI was recent, who requested it (GP?) and based on what symptoms. With liver issues its unusual to go straight to MRI usually GP will suggest ultrasound first, then CT, the MRI if cancer is suspected. I was fast tracked after a cancerous Liver tumour was found via MRI and was treated within a month, so check with your local health trust what their cancer deadlines are and then go back to GP to chase. You could ask to be referred to a specialist outside of your NHS area, but of course you don't know waiting list times. Most liver clinics are incredibly busy and it could be that there really are no available appointments, but you could ask for a cancellation. Have they checked her AFP tumour marker.
