I've been experiencing air hunger on and off since August. its lasts for about a week sometimes longer if I'm really anxious he more I concentrate on it the more I notice it but sometimes I try and forget but you cant it's hard because breathing is a natural thing do why do I feel like I've forgotten how to breathe. like have I always took deep breaths in now n again and them being satisfying breaths? I literally dont know because breathing comes naturally but when I have air hunger and I cant get the satisfying breath i keep trying until i can. its stressing me out I'm on propranolol 10mg twice a day because I dont like the side effects from tablets but they dont help with physical symtoms just takes the edge of panic attacks

most people breathe very shallow which does not allow for the full oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange. So they feel like they’re not getting enough air in. when we are busy with our day we don’t realize we are doing that.
If you just practice proper breathing you would most likely feel a lot better.take time out here or there during the day to notice how your breathing. And purposefully taken air through your nose to about four seconds so that your belly rises and then blow out through your lips like you’re blowing out a candle for the count of five.do this several times and then repeat this exercise several times during the day. This will also remind you to breathe properly when you feel like you can’t catch your breath.
try not to overthink it.
how I learned was to listen to soothing and relaxing breathing meditations online at YouTube..
hope you feel better soon.

thankyou I will definitely try that I'm not on any antidepressant and dont want to be I've just started loads of vitamins last few days so hoping that helps. it's either air hunger I feel or it's like I've been winded and someone is sucking my breath from my mouth. I've had loads full blood counts done thyroid checked diabetes checked 2 chest xrays and a chest scan there all normal just makes me think I have heart failure

it’s not heart failure. There’s no reason for you to have heart failure especially at your age. Heart failure occurs when somebody has had a long history of heart surgeries, heart bypasses,, or some other serious condition that causes it.
feeling winded is closely linked with anxiety.

I have this exact same thing! When you say it lasts for a week, how does it go away? Mine went away 10 years ago, but is back again for no reason. I don't want to take meds due to side effects. All I know to do is just keep going with my life, do things I enjoy, yoga, meditation etc. I keep telling myself that it is awful, but the air hunger can't hurt me. I do miss doing my cardio exercise though. Hard to do that with air hunger. Are you able to exercise?
For you it sounds like it is linked to stress, so it might be worth getting a therapist to help you with stress management. I personally don't have any specific stress, so these symptoms confuse me more.
