cant get diagnosis.uterine fibroids. 3 years of hell

Posted , 2 users are following.

for 3 years  i've had low left pelvic pain.

i'm 66 and well past menopause.

i live in spain and have seen 6 gynneagologists who all say'normaaaaal'.

but

the pain is chronic.

after meals i get indigestion.

i also get an ache across my abdomen just like menstrual pain.

cant do sex, too painful. always want to pi but then it takes time to flow.

i've also had a roundup of digestivo tests, poo tests, urology tests.

unfortunately when i get to see any of these specialists its hard work having an interpreter with me.

this causes me to feel anxious and then i find on the printout of my condition, that i have been prescribed sedatives.

they do understand what i say to them in spanish but i dont understand them, hence interpreter comes in with me.

because no diagnosis and no life, i look at internet trying to figure out if its something different.

have i varicous veins in my tummy, hernia, slipped filshy clip or adhesions around it. prolapse, kidney stones, infestation.

and so it goes on.

i know i have become paranoid.

you hear about test results coming back false negatives.

i'm buying supplements as i even think it could be a difficiency in something.

wouldnt you think that these specialists would interact with each other.

i'm fed up coming out of consultations with nothing.

i dared to go private a few times for bloods and mri but that is taboo over here. they get the hump.

so what can i do. i,m going around in circles and getting more and more frustrated at the spanish shrug.

anyone got any good ideas.

Hi Chica, I cant offer you any medical advice I'm afraid, but you have my every sympathy.  At our ages we dont need these problems, and 3 yrs is a long time for it to go on and not get any ease.  I think what I would be doing is looking for help elsewhere (possibly outside the country).  Can you perhaps get to the UK?

    Hi Lynne,

I,ve thought of going to uk but I keep finding reasons not to go.

ie. my kids have got their own probs back in uk.

and I don't want to cause any friction.

About 5 years ago I had a vaginal polyp removed here in Spain.

it was diagnosed on my first gunny visit and after the op the surgeon told me to stop taking my beloved HRT.

stupidly I quit straight away and went into a mini 2nd menopause.

hot flushes, mood swings and libido disappeared.

i wonder if at that point my fibroids started growing again and I find myself in this situation.

I,ve been reading conflicting reports on trying to shrink the beasties but I,m afraid of getting the balance wrong with supplements.

    black go ash,evening primrose,soy,

anyone out there know how to shrink them or do a hysterectomy.

Hi Chica, I've just remembered, a couple of weeks I spoke to a gynaecologist online in the US.  His name was Dr Owen and he was very, very good and re-assuring and gave me various options and advice.  It cost me £27 (but it would be a lot cheaper than you coming to the UK wouldnt it).  Do you think its worth trying something like that.  I know that there are tablets you can get to shrink them, but these seem to work for some people and not for others.  The gynaecologist that I'm under has told me that with me being a large lady I could be feeding them with the extra oestrogen I'm producing.  Not wishing to sound rude, but could that be true in your case?  I suppose you could also see if you could get a hysterectomy done laparoscopically. Good luck anyway, whichever you choose.

      hi lynne,

i seem to be wasting money going to private docs.

i recently went to an internal medicine specialist who first wanted all sorts of blood tests and poo tests. i saw him 3 times and by that time i'd spent almost 1000 euros and am no nearer the diagnosis.he then said he wanted me to have another colonoscopia.my 1st experience of this was incidious as the sedative was administered about 1 minute before the procedure. it hurt.

i have an appointment to see a (nhs equivelant) gynny on 20th october and this time have a list of things it could be like pelvic congestion syndrome and adhesions from a tubal ligation. part prolapse etc.

but i've had so many tests and the only thing showing up are fibroids which according to spanish docs are normaaal.!

i  am praying he listens and lets me have a laproscopia.

its interesting what your guy said.

every website i've read says that fibroids stop growing after menopause.

then i read that we are constantly feeding ourselves hidden oestrogens in soy, meat and leaching plastic bottles.

so wish me luck. hope i dont panic.

i weigh in at 50 kls which is not even 8 stone so i guess this cant be a contributer.

Yes, I see what you mean about wasting money Chica, but what can you do?  You are in a Catch 22 situation aren't you.  I think it is a common misconception that fibroids shrink after menopause.  Mine has shrunk somewhat, but not altogether.  I was told on Monday that is now 10cms.  I think the previous measurement was 19cms, so you see it has shrunk some but not altogether.  Anyway I wish you all the very best of luck for October and hope that they eventually get to the bottom of it.  Keep us informed as to how you get on.
