Cant relax after activity

Posted , 6 users are following.

Long story short Ive been ill for over 3 years. What I noticed is that there is something happening with my autonomic nervous system. I am really tired, but as soon as I get excited, or do something more strenous, the fatigue goes away. However after this, I cant relax for a long time. I start to feel really bad and fatigued, but cant rest, laying down doesnt relieve it. Moreover if I have a prolonged activity or an active day, this feeling persists for more than a day. Recently Ive been moving and flying, and afterwards , even though I was exhausted ,I got only 4-5 hours of sleep for a few nights, since I was so worked up. Sometimes I can switch it back with deep breathing and meditation, but sometimes not. Did anyone experience this? Im starting to consider CFS since there is a increased sensitivity to stimuli like this.

    Hey,

I think the ans gets a little out of sorts after the impact of the virus and whatever stressors were building up prior to getting ill. For me, I have often felt a wound up sort of feeling where it was hard to relax, i used to call it a taxed feeling, tired but stressed. in the last four months or so, i found a program that talks about ans dysfunction, and has a multifaceted way of helping to correct it. its called ans rewire, the guy who started it had cfs for a number of years and was able to heal himself, hes very genuine.

whether we call what we have post viral fatigue or some other name, i think taking steps to help rebalance the nervous system and in turn the immune system is a good idea.

I started feeling off in august 2017 and have led a mostly normal life since early 2018 but still have certain minor symptoms like getting winded more easily than before, more easily stressed and a sore scratchy throat that comes around. but the ans stuff, which includes meditation, interupting negative thoughts, stopping yourself from obsessively checking in with your symptoms, limiting screen time, getting to sleep at a good time, have all really helped me. id say i function at 90 to 95 percent most of the time and am working to get all the way to symptom free.

I dont think its ever too late to heal yourself, the guy has interviewed many people who were sick for a decade or more who got better.

theres almsot always room to improve ones lifestyle. best of luck to you.

Im trying to calm my body down, but some days even when I do it basically for the whole day, there is no effect. Also after even small activity I feel bad, but then I am so fatigued when I do nothing for the whole day as well, so I dont know what to do.

    Hi Lob,

It is good to see a post from you man, just wanted you to know I've still been keeping you in my prayers and thinking about you.

This must be a horrible experience when you feel you can't relaxed and are agitated and unsettled, I have experienced that on occasion too and it really is an awful thing and can be so overwhelming. It sounds like you have been doing positive things to help yourself with mindfulness and breathing and meditation, I know it can be so hard to try to do these things when in the midst of feeling anxious or unwell.

I hope so much that all this can settle Lob, I still believe that you are going to get better and that this is not going to be CFS. I am trusting God with that, praying that you will be well again and that your nervous system and everything just functions normally and feels settled. I'm sure you have tried all options but again any herbs or vitamins that help settle the nervous system can be good, the ones I've found the best are chamomile and cayenne pepper, as well as the B complex vitamin daily.

Hang in there Lob, I'm still believing in your recovery and believe in my heart that there is going to be a breakthrough and recovery for you, despite this awful long period of suffering you have been through - God is fighting this battle for you, it's not all on your shoulders Lob - message any time man and will keep praying for you and rooting for you from Scotland here.

Thanks Craig, I was so angry these days, I smashed my 3rd phone since getting ill. When I was at uni I had these periods when I felt like Im recovering, but they always went away because I couldnt really rest properly. Now that Im back home, they stopped happening.

      Hi Craig,

Prayers sent, I am so sorry you're still suffering with back pain.

I try to check in with everyone from time to time. My daughter still struggles but is better than last year. I am pretty much recovered, with occasional down days.

I wish the doctors would find a way to help people suffering with this illness, they really don't understand unless they have been through it.

I did not rest so i messed up my recovery. it has been so bad at times I wanted to end it all . Craig and this forum saved my life. I am still not the same. I am practically numb. I still go to work every day but that is all i do.

      Hi Brent,

I remember that you and my daughter have been sick the same amount of time. She also is working full time but says this virus makes it hard to feel, just basically in survival mode, she is able to have a garden this year, which is a step forward, but she does get very tired.
