Cant relax at night

Does anyone else at night find it hard to relax! Everytime I relax my back it feels like it goes stiff and follows round to my ribs at the front if that makes sense like it's harder to breathe and my front is being sucked in

Hello Emm2, I've had this problem for years until my daughter bought me a foam underlay to help ease the problem that you have. It helps but still I have some difficulty getting comfortable enough to sleep. My doctor had recommended half a 5 mg Diazepam before bedtime. That helps too. Ask your doctor what he/she can prescribe for you, there are many good medications for this problem. Sometimes I just get up and do something like make a sandwich and a cup of tea and then try again the get comfortable,or read till my eyes are starting to droop. Also I do not sleep with a pillow just a very soft towel under my head and that seems to help too. I do hope you find a solution to this annoying problem, it just adds to the difficulty of functioning during the day if you don't get enough sleep. Hugs to you. G

My understanding is that you need a firm mattress to keep your spine straight, with pillows under the knees to take the pressure off your lower back (this will stretch the lower vertebra to take pressure off the nerves). You will be stiff for a while until your body adjusts, but it will keep your spine from slumping forward and keep your shoulders from rolling inward.
