Cant walk after tendon and cavis reconstruction

Posted , 2 users are following.

I had tendon reconstruction surgery and cavus foot reconstruction on my first metatarsal and heal back in December. After cast was removed i could not pull my toes up. After a week of PT I have 5% range of motion and its like my ankle joint is locked up. I am scared I will never walk again. Is it common to do both reconstructions in one 8 hr surgery?

    Hi David,

Sounds like you are going through so much! I did have tendon/ ligament reconstruction  on my right ankle. That was five months ago. Doc told me not to expect to much until six months and forward. But I am walking. I must say it is still quite painful for longer periods of time. I can stand /walk for about an hour now with out a burning / nagging feeling of pain in that ankle.

Also, I had a Cheilectomy in my first metatarsal last August 2nd/ was not successful so I just had a fusion on that same foot.. MTP first joint toe.

I'm not sure what a Cavis is... but I can't imagine the pain. Maybe a bit more PT will help you out? I hope so.   I would imagine it is common for the doc to do both at the same time.    I don't have oodles of advise for you except go back to see your specialist and ask him all the questions you've asked here.

    Good luck!
