Can't see any reason why not - it works by decreasing a certain natural substance in your body (substance P) that helps pass pain signals to the brain. It is made of the stuff that makes chili peppers hot. It creates irritation and heat on the areas it is used on. I would ask your pharmacist (the pharmacist NOT the counter staff) if it is OK to use alongside any other medications you may be using as well because there are interactions listed with BP and heart drugs.

When you use it do be very careful where you let it get! Make sure you either use disposable rubber gloves or wash your hands VERY VERY well before you put them anywhere near eyes, mouth and delicate bits of your body ;-) It burns on ordinary skin - get it in your eyes, nose or mouth or some other places and it will be really uncomfortable.

My massage therapist used to use it - a tiny bit was enough to make my entire back very warm! A sort of glowing sensation...

PS - I'm told cyclists use it in the winter to keep warm! My informant tells me you can get it online in various strengths.

Thanks very much for that....will try it, if it`s ok after talking to pharmacist.  I have fibro as well, and have read in the past substance P goes awry with pain messages....tempted to rub it all over!! (joking of course)

Maybe won`t have have heat on as well, with this dreadful cold wet weather,  It`s supposed to be flamimg June from today!  Hope you`re better off than us...rolleyes

Not a lot Linda! Overall it might be marginally less cold in our region than England at present - but I live at the same altitude as the top of the mountains in the UK which takes at least 4C off the top temps.

The sun is "splitting the stones" as they say over here in "sunny" Ireland. It's very rare to get it here so I'm out getting an overdose of vitamin D. Gotta make hay whilst the sun shines. :-)

It was so hot here yesterday that the car door (inside) could cause burns. Another hot day but a bit breezy. In the vegetable garden it was too hot to hang about for long. I don't remember having such a long spell of heat for such a long time......certainly not last year.

Not at this time of year! Twentytwo years ago there was an extended hot summer in June and July! Not sure about in between.

Though when we moved from Meigle to Durham I couldn't believe how cold it was! Used to sit in the garden in Meigle - didn't happen much in Durham...

Yes. It's a warm corner here. I remember we grew corn on the cob in 1975 but probably many people did. It has cooled a bit this afternoon / early evening and is quite cloudy. I think rain is forecast for tomorrow but it'll save having to hose the plants etc. I think the heat is to return. Eternal optimist.😀

    Linda,

I'm a capsaisin user in the summertime.  I put it on my back when I excercise because it eliminates the "itchies" that I usually get when I sweat.

I did make a BIG MISTAKE when I first used it.  I asked my wife to smear it all over my back, and then I went out for a run (pre-PMR days).  About half way through the run, it started burning me very badly.  By the time I got back I was on fire.  Extreme pain.  My skin looked like I was in the sun for a month.  The combination of the capsaisin and the natural heating up of the skin was disastrous.

She now puts a very faint coat of capsaisin on my skin -- and we are both very careful not to get it anywhere near our eyes.

    But it's a good product.
