The thyroid controls all sorts of hormones and body functions. When it is overactive it can also make you feel anxious and give you panic attacks. Your whole body and mind is out of harmony.
5mg is a low dose of Carb. The specialist will increase it. I was on 30mg and 20mg of Propanalol - the prop stops heart palpitations).
It is important that you take the Carbimazole to get the thyroid under control.
If you look at the hyperthyroidism blog on this site you will find a lot of helpful posts that will give you an understanding of the condition.
best wishes

The getting hot is caused by the thyroid. I don't think Ihad any side effects from the tablets but had plenty of side effects caused by the overactive thyroid...such as being really sensitive to heat, waking up roasting in bed, heart palpitations, breathlessness, tiredness, anxiety, panic attacks, being really hungry, losing weight, hair getting finer.
After 7 months I feel like the old me is back and I am beginning to feel well again. The specialist said that it would take 18 months to get the body balanced again. Gradually they will reduce the carbimazole until I stop it altogether then hopefully my thyroid will carry on working as it should.
best wishes
