Carbimazole help

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've just been prescribed carbimazole for my overactive thyroid. I'm to take 2 a day and there are 56 in the packet, so they'll last for 28 days. What I don't understand is the tablets will not last until my next hospital appointment and no one at my doctors has mentioned anything about a repeat prescription.

Can anyone tell me if you just stop taking them when they're finished or if you get more? I feel kind of silly because I didn't even realise how many were in the packet until I'd left the pharmacy & as I've had bad experiences with this health centre I'm reluctant to ask them.

hi, firstly when is your hospital appt? if its not for a while i would have thought your gp would like to see you. You usually have a blood test every4-6 weeks so, they can monitor whether they have correct dosage.Hope this helps & all goes well. Elaine.
