Carpal tunnel within 3weeks of work?

I started a high paying job building car seat 4 weeks ago. 1 week training, 3 weeks of work. I use drills and torque guns, and I didnt notice how hard and unnecessarily I was pushing down on them before using the triggers. Now, I'm honestly in tears and terrified.

The above average work day pain in right hand, thumb, point, and middle started 1 week ago. By Friday those parts were completely numb,I thought swollen, and still very painful. Went to the ER, I really was positive that i had to have broken, jammed, or fractured something. The nurse took very good visible x rays, and I was told, that it sounded a lot like "pre CTS". The Dr said she's had it in both hands since she was 24, I'm only 23. Referred me to an orthopedic and gave me a wrist sprain to wear as much as possible, voltaran pill form(20) and steroids(counted down from 4 to one) to help until I see a specialist.

The specialist doesn't take my insurance, blucare still, and I'm not hired to the company yet and will not be until October, then benefits in December. I love my job, and this is the only option i have until I pay for my own vehicle. My neighbor is my ride. There is nothing walking distance. I have never had a health problem or injury or anything and im completely terrified that I can't measure up at work. Today's Sunday, tomorrow starts my week, and I just want relief. Its constantly numb, the pain might subside for minutes at a time but the numbness never. I feel so guilty about mashing the guns instead of taking care of my hands and wrists. This is all i have, or I'll be stuck in this same ditch, getting no where in life but where I'm at.

Amanda I'm so sorry to hear this. I feel your pain I am in the same boat. I had to let go of one third of my business had to hire someone to do the things I can't do. The only difference is I'm 33 and I've been dealing with it for about 9 months . I'm on the verge of losing everything my condo and my business. I'm in extreme pain and numbness all day I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel but I think something else is going on too I have so much pain in the top of my forearms that it's hard to bring groceries in there even pour a glass of milk or anything really. When grocery shopping I have to push the cart with my belly and turn it with my feet. I know this doesn't help but I thought it might be nice for you to know you're not the only one. Best of luck to you I hope you feel better

Amanda, I am sorry to hear about this. I am in my 40's and and fought CTS for 3 years before having surgery on both hands. I had lost feeling in my right thumb serval times during the 3 years and went to physical therapy and a chiropractor. I am 4 months out post surgery and need to be honest with you. I am one of the few that have had a more rapid recovery. I was back to driving 5 days post surgery, light weight lifting 7 days, but here is the honesty part. It took about 2 months for me to use power tools or tools that I had to grip and squeeze for a awhile.  I was back to work in 5 days, but I am a software engineer and just had to type. A position like yours maybe 30-40 days before returning to work. Now, the surgery was the best decision I made. No more pain, no numbness, no permanent muscle damage and I can finally sleep through the night. I can't tell you what to do and certainly wish you the best. Cortisone shots and similar treatments are just a delay for surgery. If it is CTS you maybe able to buy some time, but surgery will get you back to normality.
