CARTIVA implants do not have a screw or any metal hardware. Maybe it was a different surgery. I had the CARTIVA nine months ago and it was successful.

Hi Sarah, depending on where you live...I had a wedding last year May in Kentucky& I was only able to get into Merrell sandals ..I was only able to get into sketchers slip ons for a LONG time...it was 9 months before I could say that I was able to walk with out discomfort... now 15 months out I can walk a mile a day easy

I had my surgery done a few days before you December 28. 2018yes my range of motion is definitely worse too and yesterday I went to the mall and walked a lot and now it really hurts today. I can only hope and pray that it will get better as time goes on. I notice I’m walking on the more lateral side of my foot which is now hurting because I’m trying purposely to not walk on the toe joint because that hurts. I honestly am not sure what is better? but I do think it was probably the right decision to have the surgery because obviously if we had kept going the way we were going we would’ve had such severe arthritis in our toe that the only option then would’ve been fusion...... so we really did this for the future. I honestly think it’s going to take a year for us to really reap the benefits and then be able to be as active as we were prior. At least I’m hoping! I tend to think surgery on your foot is different than any other surgery because you’re walking on it each and every day so the recovery is so much longer. One thing I can say for anyone planning on having the surgery just to take a year out of your life and know that you will not be the same that year. Do not plan any long trips to EUROPE walking on cobblestones. do not plan a hiking trip! do not plan anything super important because you will need to give a year of your life to get better

My surgery has been one year. I would say I’m very glad I did it. Never think about it the discomfort anymore even though I have some minor discomfort only when walking. But it’s still 110% better than prior to surgery.

I am confused, if you were a very fit, healthy, active gym goer... why was the surgery necessary?

I can also agree with you, it was a long road... it's been 15 months & I am doing well... much better than before the surgery

I had Cartiva approx 2 years ago. I'm very pleased . I have no pain, even with taking Zumba classes. Unless I'm reminded , I don't think about it at all

I hardly ever remember mine....had them both done, just celebrated one year anniversary on foot number 1 LOL
I have no pain when walking, running, playing with grandkids, standing on tip toe to reach the cabinets, and shuffle dancing is a breeze. Love my Cartivas!
