I would change the statement to no way would I use your surgeon. I had mine done a year ago and it has been just fine. Walking numerous miles after two months. My surgeon has not had to redo one Cartiva implant. My surgeon is also a friend and very honest .

My recovery was much longer and more painful than I was originally expecting according to what my surgeon said in the beginning...it took 9 months before I could say that I was benefiting from having the surgery...but now 17 months later I am able to walk miles & I can't even remember what it was like before my surgery... I feel SO badly for all of the paitents who are having such terrible results!! I do believe that it is the surgeon who can make or break the final results

I am 7 months out. MY toe will not lie Completely flat. It is floating. Hence my sesamoids bear the weight due to this new misalignment. IS this the problem you had? one surgeon says my implant is too far proud (sticking out) causing the issue. THE Surgeon was so worried about it sinking in he left it purposely proud. I AM wondering if the toe will fall flat at 9-10 months? I REALLY don't want the almighty fusion!

I'll be two years out from my Cartiva surgery in two weeks. I had been really optimistic, but it's been a real disappointment.

Is there an arthosurface board? Anyone have it?

My heart goes out to all the people who have not experienced ideal results from this new technology. I had both feet done by a fantastic surgeon; lots of experience; he placed the implant beautifully and left it just a bit proud to give more joint space. I can walk, run, stand on tiptoe to reach things or hug my 6'4 husband - all pain free. I'm grateful to God every day for helping me find the right doctor and helping me recover. I wish all had good results like mine!

I have also been lucky to have had a successful surgery . I have to think that this is because of a good doctor...I had my procedure done by an orthopedic surgeon...I am 18 months out & I do have some mild discomforts from time to time but I am a hairstylist and I spend most of my time on my feet. I was unable to do the things that I now can easily... like long walks , stand on my tip toes & I can also do a yoga plank...of course I can only do any of those things as long as I am wearing GOOD QUALITY shoes!

A good podiatrist is just as good, as they do many. I am 2 years out and very successful. My podiatrist has not had to redo even one of his hundreds.

or everyone did what I did and didn't go back to the podiatrist and instead found an orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle. I went to Georgetown.

Hi , I HAD THE IMPLANT CARTIVA done 3 month ego today, its been very painful at times, I did recuperate from the surgery very well, but with the therapy it has been difficult, because still swollen and it hurts specially at nights in bed, but still a better solution then having a toe fusion , I had that done 9 YEARS ago and the range of motion on that toe did not return...

I'M working on getting better as now, been out of work for 3 months and hoping to return in 4 weeks, still have to follow with my surgeon to make sure I can go back to work...

I have use my bike and its okey... it was wonderful !!!!

we must understand that is going to take time and need patients , from 6 month to a year for a full recovery..

wishing you all a fast , and a good recovery,,

my surgeon said to me that I will be on my tennis shoes in 3 weeks!!!! NO!!! it took 2 months and it has to be very wide shoe for you to feel comfortable .... must continue ice at nights because it WILL get swollen .. some Ibuprophen and PATIENTS,,

wishing you all a good recovery.. GOD BLESS..

    GABBY??

Gabby, are you saying you had a joint fused and then subsequently had the Cartiva on the same joint? Just making sure as that is not possible.
