    hey,

I'm sorry to hear about all the folk who have had issues?!?

I'm 2.5 years after cartiva in the UK and can honestly say it's the best thing ever! I wore a boot for 3 weeks and running and rowing again in 3 months, gently ramping the intensity over the course of a couple of months I don't get any pain at all, even when my young ones tread on my big toe!!!

    I thoroughly recommend it!!

    best Regards

    david

Are you still happy with the results now about 6 years out? Has it eliminated pain?

I read too many negative reviews on Cartiva. Many took over a year to be able to walk and still have pain. Instead my doctor recommended the Arthrosurface Hemi-cap. If you aren't allergic to Cobalt, Chrome or Titianium Plasma this should be a better alternative. My doctor said he has had to remove the Cartiva and the were really gross inside. I know two other people that did the Hemi-cap and have done really well with no pain and walked without boot in a short time. I still have pain ( Surgery December 12) but we are working with an allergist to see if maybe I'm reacting to the metals. Otherwise, we think my scar tissue built up quickly and that is causing me pain. Although this week it is feeling much better. I'm the only person my doctor has ever had that still has pain after doing this surgery. He has used these for 11 years.

I had a Cartiva implant about 2 years ago. I have done very well. i had minimal discomfort for about 4 months and since then have been pain free. I do not do strenuous activities, like running, tennis, but I am active and the procedure has helped me continue that pace without pain.

Are you still happy with the Cartiva results? Has it eliminated pain? can you wear a high heel? (I'm not talking spike but 1.5-2 inch heel). I walk a lot and do barre classes, not a lot of jumping.

I believe your solutions depends on how active you are. If you participate in activities that are high impact, cartiva and other implants are not for you. My surgeon said the real solution is fusion. I had my cartiva removed Sept 2019 and am so glad I did it despite the long recovery. I was non-weight baring for 10 weeks but once allowed to, walked the whole day while touring Tuscon with family. I am very active, gym 5 x a week, high impact, jumping etc... and post fusion can do everything in every class I take. Lunges, planks, yoga, barre, burpees, everything. I can also wear 2.5-3" heels. (I got what is, daintily, called a lady fusion) I am in no pain short of some scar tissue pain in my ankle where they took bone for a bone graft. And a little residual numbness from the surgery which doesn't bother me. I wish I had fused from the begining.

    Good Luck!

Seems many of you have had a Cartiva implant in your big toe 6-7 years ago. Are you happy with the results? Has it eliminated pain? can you wear a high heel? (I'm not talking spike but 1.5-2 inch heel).
