just wanting to know if anyone else has the same problem or wondering if it's normal I have a broken ankle and have a cast snd crutches when ever I elevate my leg and then stand up my cast goes tight for a couple of minutes and it's like a burning sensation around my foot/ankle but usually if I stand up fast and get it moving straight away it doesn't happen and when ever it does I exercise my foot and it goes away any idea what it could be?

    Hi Daniella,

The same thing happened to me for the first couple of weeks after I had surgery for my ankle fracture. From what I gather it's the blood rushing back down to your ankle after it's been elevated and causing it to swell. Mine only feels like that occasionally now and I'm near enough 4 weeks since surgery. My doctor said exercise helps ease swelling so give that a try if you can. All the best for your recovery smile

    Hi Daniella,

Its perfectly normal to have that feeling from your cast. The tingling is normal also. You have swelling around your ankle. I had swelling on my ankle and my leg. Surgery on tendons and ligaments.

    Keep working it! smile

I'm sorry your in a cast. I went thru the same sensation you described and I agree with the posts above. Pressure when blood rushes in the foot causing swelling and bruising. I would ice at my toes helped control the swelling a lot.
