hi. i had cataract surgery in left eye yesterday. my distance vision is now very good. however today i noticed flickering in left side of eye. dont think its as bad now. when i put on my sunglasses, it helped an awful lot. so am wondering if this is part of the recovery procedure. something to do with the extra brightness im seeing. i looked down at my carpet and it looked like a brand new carpet. maybe my sight is too good now.

When I had my cataract surgery done I was very sensitive to light and especially changing light levels for the first day or two. I wore dark sunglasses to help with the sensitivity and pain. I think that perhaps the part of your eye that dilates and contracts the pupils is somewhat damaged by the surgery and that is the source of the pain. But it went away in about 2-3 days.

Make sure you follow the eye drop routine carefully. Drops are critical to ensure there is no infection and to promote healing of the incision.

This is a normal known side effect that goes away once the capsular bag contracts and the IOL stabilizes. From what I've read it can take a week or two for it to go away.
