Cataract and Glaucoma

I got my cataract surgery done in right eye from an eminent ophthalmologist in Bengaluru, however after the surgery i noticed some blurring and was not able to see clearly. I again approached to the Dr. where he suggested me to have some kind of laser shorts in the eye to see clearly and gave me Glucotim LA (Timolol Maleate), upon asking what kind of this drop is he mentioned it to use for 15 days to control pressure. Can you suggest me how effective the drop would be?

    Hi,

I am suffering from dry eyes and have scratchy feeling in both of my eyes and has this issue since many months, which upon using some drops gives me relief for sometime but again the symptoms again comes back, i again consulted my eye doctor and he prescribed me Heal Tears ( Sod. Hyaluronate and CMC combination).

How effective is this drop in treating recurring dry eye case like mine?

Hitendra. Timolol is not for you. It is specifically to bring down ocular pressure and will not help dry eyes. Have you tried artificial tears? Hypromellose drops? You have to use them several times per day and put them in as soon as your eye feels dry. You can use them as much as you like. Try to keep out of breezy conditions and away from fans....in fact anything that causes a flow of air over your eyes. If you drive then keep the car windows closed.,and no air conditioning.

Timolol is known to work well, it is a Glaucoma drop. It is sometimes a complication after cataract surgery to have your IOP go higher, many times it will go back down a day or two after the surgery. Just make sure to continue to have your IOP monitored. It would be good for you to know where your IOP was at before the surgery to compare. Most doctors do not like your IOP to be above 22. Best of Luck!
