Cataract surgery finally scheduled

Posted , 6 users are following.

Next month will finally get my much needed surgery. I researched all the available options of lens with combined laser for the mild astigmatism. After very extensive testing, mapping, finally saw the ophthalmologist. Was told i could only have the standard lens, no laser. Diagnosis with Anterior Basement Membrane Dystrophy (ABMD)

Expected to wear glasses to correct near and distance. Will target intermediate , goal of -1.5.

Has any one has this problem? If so , what was your recommendation?

I'm not familiar with ABMD, but I learn something about the eye everyday! Sounds like you've got a good surgery plan. Keep us posted!

My first appointment was June 7 .I had to reschedule it to July 11 because I was in a hospital.I will finally get my right eye done on August 16.

Don't know much about astigmatism but my aunt has it, got two distance lenses and is a big reader. Says she can get by even without cheaters for some things and my ophtho said that can happen with some astigmatic folks. So it made me wish I had an astigmatism, haha! Perhaps it will be better to leave yours as is?

I imagine it felt frustrating to do all the research about lenses and then hear it was all for naught. Sigh...I avoided the research and now have positive dysphotopsia I never anticipated. So your approach was more intelligent.

Life works out and sounds like you are aligned with the flow of it.

May you have the best of outcomes!
