Cataracts and PMR

Has anyone developed cataracts since being diagnosed with PMR? Picked up a virus/ heavy cold a couple of weeks ago which left me with slightly  cloudy vision in one eye. Its cleared up a bit but went off to doc to check wasn't anything nasty and was sent off to opticians . Optician says I've developed cataracts  in both eyes which is age related but taking pred isn't helping the situation.

    Just back from the doc. Blood tests normal but lots of hip and knee pain so back up to 10mg . Lets hope that sorts it out.

    I have had GCA and PMR for almost seven years and needed pred as high as 80mg for my last flare. I'm now at 20mg pred., .8MTX and Actemra - the $17,000 biologic Eileen referred to.  I developed cataracts quickly on the high pred and had them removed two months ago. I thought I might never have cataracts due to family history since my mom, who died at 84 from lupus, didn't have them and my dad had his operated on at 95 yrs. old. Even at his advanced age my father went through the surgery easily. He even wanted to stay alone in his own home the first night. I convinced him to stay with my husband and me for one night especially since he had very little vision in his other eye all his life.

    I was told only last week that I have the beginnings of cataracts and I'm only 52!!! It must be the pred!
