I haven't heard of a "no-catheter" TURP. That sounds a little aggressive, given the trauma your prostate is subjected to. Mine only stayed in for 24 hours and I removed it myself with the syringe they sent home with me. If they had kept me overnight then I suppose I would have been discharged without the catheter. Bipolar TURPs seem to not require an overnight stay like was the case with the older mono TURP, I guess.

I stayed overnight in the hospital catheterized with saline running through the bladder. The nurse removed the catheter the next morning about 18 hours after the surgery. I drank a lot of water and was able to pee small amounts a couple of times and was discharged around 1 p.m. without a catheter. My stream became stronger as the day progressed and the urethral swelling went down. Three years post-TURP and still happy I had it done.

Hi Gerald. Yes, I have TURP and a catheter was inserted in theatre and I had for two days, until most of the blood had been flushed out of my system.
