Catheter overflow UTI?

Posted , 3 users are following.

During a recent night in the hospital, I woke hurting, horrible bladder pain, and found that my catheter was full and sort of backed up, like my urine was going back inside me. I have IC, so bladder pain is a norm for me, but this was extremely horrendous. It took the nurse quite awhile to get to me and drain it. I am home now and hurting. Is it posible I have a UTI? I have an app with my urologist  on the 5th, but do not know if I should wait that long. This could be just pain from IC.

If you think you have a UTI, go to an urgent care center.   After TURP surgery,  I developed a UTI over a weekend.  I went to Urgent Care, they took a urine specimen and gave me a prescription for Cipro, guessing it would cover my infection.  It came up positive for e coli, which the Cipro cured.

Cloudy and foul smelling urine can be an indication.  Delaying treatment could allow the infection migrate up to the kidneys.
