hi there, i had a similar experience to you, i have had back problems for about 10 years, and 8 years ago i had a discectomy done, which i was left with numbness down the back of my right leg, over the yaesr i have grown used to the pain, but in october of 2009, i woke up at 3am, and was in a lot of pain, so i went downstairs to take some pain killers, then i coughed and felt a pop in my lower back then everything went numb below my waist, my husband rang for a ambulance and i was taken to blackburn hospital, i got there at 3.40am, i had am mri at 10am, then they forgot about me untill my husband went to ask them for some pain relief, at 4.30pm i was then transfered by ambulance as an emergency to preston, where i had more tests, then finally at 9.30pm i went down to theatre for my op, i woke up in recovery at 6.00am the next day, i am walking with sticks and i wear incointinence pads, as i cannot feel anything down there, although i get the feeling of wanting to poo all the time which gets me down as i told my consultant and he doesnt know what this is happening for, i am 37 years old and feel thar this should not be happening to me, my husband is very good, but i wonder how long he will put up with me and the prospect of not having sex, i have been told that this will improve over time, have you had any feeling come back yet?, i would like to keep in touch with you as i have found no one with this condition that i can talk to....regards nichola.
