Im supposed to be starting sertraline on sunday after reducing my citalopram. Today has been the worst day in 2 years. I caved in and went back up to 40mg after reducing to 10mg. I cant do it . I cant go back to feeling like I did. So I will be staying with the citalopram for now. I can't risk it with the sertraline taling a while to kick in. Good luck to you all.

Thanks. it is helpful to know that things are not always as straightforward as the Drs expect. They try their best but it does not always work to plan and getting in to see them in some areas is very difficult.

    Hi perthshire,

You made the right choice for you and that is all that matters. Why we're you going to switch off of it, if you don't mind my asking?

I had been prescribed the Sertraline following a period of high stress concerning a health and safety dispute with my employer which had gon on for about 18 months by the time I started them. Fortunately i ceased employment at the end of September so by Christmas I was hoping to come off them altogether which i did - with the consiquences i described. To be honest the stress has not gone away entirely because i am still in dispute with my former employer!!

Hi. I just feel like im not to my full potential. Life is still an effort and a struggle. From not wanting to meet up with friends to not keeping up with appointments. Just not my old self, and thats after 2 years.

Lots on the internet. I am no expert but it has its roots in Budist religion and involves meditation and controling our thoughts. Living life in the moment is the phrase they use instead of worrying about the past or future. Lots of video on youtube and apps for smartphones.

Very good advice DaveWOwen. Since no magic pill is going to fix everything we wish it would, we need to manually fill in the gaps for ourselves. I like mindfulness. I also like a series entitled, "People on Purpose", by the Kairos Foundation who offer." Life Training" weekend meetings all over the world. Fabulous meetings.
