Has anyone ever used CBD oil for PMR inflammation? And if so, did it help with the pain, also did it help in tapering Prednisone?

There hasn't been much discussion on here because any mention of the stuff resulted in deletion for a long time. There is, however, a lot of discussion about it on the HealthUnlocked forum and you will find a list of all the threads here:

    https://healthunlocked.com/search/posts?query=CBD%20&page=1&community=76

There are a few threads on here in recent months but how you can find them other than scrolling through all previous posts I don't know - the search function on patient forums is hopeless!

    If you go here:

    https://patient.info/forums/discuss/browse/polymyalgia-rheumatica-and-gca-1708

you can scroll through pages and pages and pages of past threads...

From what i remember though results haven't been exciting. Some people have found they sleep better. Others think it may have helped but I can't remember anyone who said it was great.

I tried it Mr B but started to get bad headaches so decided to stop it as I couldn't then be sure if it was the oil or the steroids that were making any improvement....it will be a long time before I can try it again but will when i have really reduced the Pred....at at 10 mg just now - so 9 months is a long wait...lol....BUT I discovered it was the Omeprazole what gave me the headache.....ha ! Not much use to you MR B but I would certainly like to know more about the oils...No website can give any information about it's qualities and how it help what pain...apparantly is it against the Law in the UK! So who only knows how we are supposed to get our knowledge to know what dosage, what strength, what type etc....good luck with your quest and I'd be happy to know what you find out...so keep intouch....thanks x

IN fact - you have jogged my memory and I may re-start it again - despite being on Pred and see what happens...in which case I will let you know...x

I took CBD capsules for a few weeks but I have stopped for the time being. I had a consultation with a nutritional therapist and she said, although CBD wouldn't be doing me any harm, it was a bit 'surplus to requirements' if the pred kept pain and stiffness under control. I'll start the CBD (and curcumin) again when I'm further down the road of reducing pred. It seemed a good idea - why spend money on supplements at the moment when they're not needed?! (Previously, I thought that taking them now would build me up for when I reduce pred, but it doesn't work like that, apparently.) I haven't taken CBD or curcurmin for a couple of weeks now and I haven't noticed any adverse affects.

The nutritional therapist did advise that if I continue taking CBD and curcurmin, to take them as far away as possible (timewise) from pred - something to do with how the liver processes them all.

I thought I read somewhere that CBD oil also helps reduce inflammation but haven’t been  able to re-find the web page as yet.

I used it for awhile. It seemed to help at first, then not so much. I've tried it with some THC, which "they" say helps activate it. Various forms of CBD can be purchased in ratios of 18CBD:1THC - meaning you would never feel the psychoactive effects. It did not help me taper off the prednisone - I've needed Actemra to do that - but now that my inflamation markers are very low, I'm left with severe OA. I can deal with it during the day, but need low dose opiates to sleep. Taking a small dose (2.5mg) of CBD:THC lets me keep the opiate dose low. CBN is lesser-known cannabis specific for pain and sleep disorders. It is not psychoactive.
