    Hi SMC

I was sceptical about CBT, but after having six one to one sessions once a week has been the best thing ever for me.  It has certainly helped me with my confidence and has taught me to stay positive on a day to day basis.  We meet a lot of different challenges along our daily lives and being able to make choices that best is for you, I felt that my CBT sessions helped me in many ways.

Go into this with an open mind and let your mind be trained in a positive way.  It has taught me to say NO when I need to as we are all humans and NOT robots.  Give it a go and good luck.

    Take care wink

Thanks for replying I'm going to do some research into it. I'll try anything once if it helps and helps me stay in work. Everything is just feeling too much lately n I feel I have my partner n family tortured. But I know they only want the best for me. But it helps to talk to other like myself who feel what I feel.

Sorry just seen your post as I am not often on the boards these days. CBT helped me but due to NHS cutbacks I had to fund it myself along with hypnotherapy.  I take no drugs just supplements and epsom salt baths. Took me a while to work out what helps me as of course as we know fibro is different for everyone.  All I can say is that learning to say "No" when things are bad and learning the art of pacing oneself is well worth the effort. People that get upset when you let them down are not worth worrying about. My colleagues are great in that although they still invite me out on their evenings out they know I will not be fit for work if I attend but equally I am happy to share their experiences the next day at work. Good luck I do hope you find what works for you.

Wow maggers u don't taking no drugs😱 That's amazing on its own lol. It's good to hear others have had positive outcome with cbt. I'm lucky to have a understanding gp who listens and I know not many can say that.

Tried the drugs but the side effects way too bad for me.  Went down the no gluten, no refined sugars, cook everything from scratch route. Not as difficult as it sounds.  Slow cookers are an amazing invention! Cook a pot full and freeze the unused portion - easy peasy. Have only been diagnosed a year having suffered since 1987.  Case of self help because apparently our local hospital don't treat or see people with fibro!  Saw someone privately to get the right supplements and saved for a while to afford the cbt and hypnotherapy but it was worth it. My GP is sympathetic but that is about it - no treatment to offer really.  Oh and I use Bio Freeze when the pain is really bad - recommended by my chiropractor. My mantra is "I have seen better days but I have also seen worse.  I do not have all I want but I have all I need. I woke up with aches and pains but I woke up, my life may not be perfect but I am blessed.

Love it mantra must write it down. I'm only 24 so my doctor seems to mention my ages a lot especially because I havnt had no children as they say this is what can trigger it in women. How do U cope with fatigue? I'm struggling I work as a teaching assistant with few children with asd so u can imagine what I be like by lunch time comes lol.

Ah, the dreaded fatigue. Never stand when you can sit and never sit when you can lie down. Have you had your vitamin D levels checked?  The supplements I take help alot Vit B-12. 100% pure Lcarnitine, CoQ10 and Tocotrienols and 1000iu vit D.   After leg surgery last year I was given some elbow crutches and have to say when fatigue strikes they do help ease weary legs. Smart crutches are the make which actually take pressure off hands and wrists.   Your doctor is correct in so far as my fibro was triggered by the birth of my daughter in the 80s but it is not true for all folk - especially the men!!!!

I usually get to the kids break in the mornin of school and I'm just flattened by the fatigue. Havnt have my levels checked sense I was taking the roaccutane for my acne which is where this has all came from. Didn't even get to have the joy of having any kids yet without this dreaded thing ! 😣 Well it's been nice moanin to someone else other than family and partner lol

Is it acne or is it fibro related?  I had to see dermatologist at the local hospital after doctor diagnosed Shingles which would not go away. Bad raised rash down one side of face. Not shingles, diagnosed rosacea until I had the Fibro diagnosis then it changed as just a fibro rash!    It is worth having any ailment double checked though as not everything is fibro related and we are at risk assuming all our problems are caused by the fibro sprite!

It was a acne treatment it's like the last thing they can give. I had cystic acne from 13 and tryed everything under the sun. It cleared the skin but it still comes bk but my fibro was the outcome of side effects which was not listed when starter treatment. There was so much scary things that went with it.

Poor you, can't begin to imagine what it's been like. This is one of the reasons I refuse all drugs. Tried them and couldn't handle the side effects so have decided to go it alone with supplements, hypnotherapy, chiropractor, diet and very gentle exercise in the hope that the combination will help and I think it does. Positive thinking goes a long way too although it is easier said than done.

Well at least u know and understand that. In just great to have came off roaccutane alive as there is major risks with it that was discuss properly there was a few cases in the uk where people have killed themselves cuz of it. I still suffer a lot with depression which I have from teenage year which wasn't diagnose under the fibro signs started but anyways here to a restful nite lol.

Whatever the risks we always think we are the ones  who are going to be lucky and not have any side effects because we are so desperate to have relief from our ailments Age has taught me to be cautious and look for more natural ways of dealing with problems. I firmly believe there is something out there for every ailment it's just that we haven't discovered them yet!  Have a peaceful nght.

Herbal remedies have worked for me over the past 12months.  I was sceptical but my pains have now reduced by 95%.  I only have tiredness and lack of sleep.  I am not giving in as I feel this will all come to me in good time.  Over 20yrs of suffering and finally pains have finally reduced it's been a blessing for me.

I don't take meds from doctors because of the side effects they cause but with herbal there have been NO side effects.

CBT also has helped me in the past 12 months too.

Learning how to pace oneself has been a challenge and saying NO !! I can honestly say I am in a much better place now than I have been in over 20yrs.

Adopting the one day and moment at a time has definitely worked for me and has made me more confident in my daily challenges.

      Take care wink x
