Celebrated one year after my multiple TURPs - things seem to be ok so far

Greetings! My 1 year anniversary of having TURP #3 of 3 just passed and I thought I'd write a bit about what life is like and has been like so far.For those new to my situation, I had to have 3 TURPs (August/September/January) since #1 and #2 resulted in complete blockage so #3 was scheduled after the holidays before which I was doing CIC to keep things flowing. I had >100g of prostate tissue removed so my situation might be rare on this forum.

Overall, my urination has been fine. I'd trigger short-term bleeding during the year as pieces of "scabs" or "dead tissue" would shed during urination. After 10 months, this finally stopped. For some reason now, being constipated does impact my new urine flow, likely because the bowels are full and push on the prostate. As a result, I make sure to eat a healthy diet which isn't a bad idea at all. Maybe I'm just really aware of how my system is working whereas in the past I never paid attention. I do drink around 80oz of water a day, beginning early in the morning, mainly because working from home I'm on the phone a lot and the water helps avoid dry throat. And it helps to avoid constipation.

No signs of erection issues or retrograde ejaculation noted, other than those common for a 59 year old male. I don't "pee like a racehorse" but then I don't think I ever did since I don't wait that long. I do have some generic Cialis that I cling to on those special weekends when my wife is smiling a lot.

I have 2 months worth of catheters stored in my closet "just in case". After 6 months, I stopped bringing them along on trips. Now I'm considering donating them to my local medical supply non-profit before they expire. (This is a hard decision for me to make...just in case things 'stop' once again.)

I have a follow up with my urologist in July 2022 where he will do a urine retention check and ask how I'm doing.

Congratulation Michael! Just curious , what is your healthy diet basically like? Hank

Thanks Hank! For healthy diet, I start my days with an apple and 1Tbsp or less of unsalted peanut butter to add fiber, protein and a bit of hydration. I drink at least 80oz of water from the start of my day until early afternoon. (As requested by my urologist, but it feels good to hydrate and flush out my system) For mid-day meals, I try to add lettuce/fresh veg. Similarly for dinner, a balance between protein and vegetables. I also attempt to lower my salt intake to just to avoid retaining too much of that water I drink.

Nothing really radical, but if I don't pay attention to what I eat, my high-tech job enables some really bad "eat on the run" type thinking which isn't healthy.
