So I recently months ago was diagnosed with anxiety due to stress maybe as well a traumatic experience and it's been ups and downs a huge rollercoaster of a life changing event to me growing up without such diagnosed disorder etc my question is I was once on hydroxyzine but my PCP took me off that an switched me to celexa due to my going to EMS for taking hydroxyzine and I guess in my view in her view it's not working because I took half a pill ( I work night shift at ups ) and those who taken hydroxyzine knows it makes you drowsy and I had a panic attack then I took a whole one time and still resulted in a panic attack somehow so I got switch to citalopgram. I'm still an amateur and new to the effects but I rather play a safe than sorry field when it comes my personal being a body.

The first time I took celexa it was at 12 am and I experience I guess the typical signs of the medication I was a bit hard of breathe but managed to sleep somehow. The second time I felt anxious and started experiencing the normal symptoms but also other ones I was concerned about such as the muscle spasms or spasms and agitation because I felt angry but I thought it's the side effects but I wanted to consult my PCP on how I felt but then later on I felt really depressed more than usual I never had such intense thought of wanting to hurt someone and myself but I was able after an hour to resist the urge and did the smart thing by writing in my journal I dunno if I'm playing it safe or dumb because I looked up withdrawal symptoms I'm on the 10 mg and it's day two I haven't taken it last night I had to go the ems because I felt chest pains followed with the palpation I thought I was having a heart attack because I got nauseated where I almost threw up my friend took me to the bathroom where I had started to shake and zone out ( I felt this way earlier around 8 but didn't wanna make a bit deal and it wasn't as severe just lack of concentration to respond I kept saying um a lot ) we went for a walk to ease my mind came back I tried to sleep and then the effects hit me again as I stated before then I randomly started having muscle spasms it scared her because it seemed as if I was having random spasms of seizures I went to the ems they did labs and I explained it to them they didn't give me anything maybe as a relaxer but maybe the celexa was still in my system and so now I am home I have an appointment early now as of Monday to consult with my PCP but I wanted people expertise besides a doctor's view and opinion what I should and advice and helpful treatment because I know I looked up such things and people saying it's not good to suddenly quit cold turkey again I rather be safe than sorry please and thank you

Hi kianna, everybody's different on these meds when it comes to side effects, some have very bad and others not so bad but all these will subside in a few weeks or even days, but I know in my experience on citalopram they work wonders after time and patience, as I had all the side effects as you had and more and they were very frightening, I just persevered for 2 weeks and now on 30mg after after 9 months I feel better than ever and you will too if you decide to weather the storm, good luck, Chris xx

Thanks , I consulted with my PCP and I now have an earlier appointment to see her , I asked her what I should do and she told me not to take it until I see her. I'm just only scared of the side effects or possible withdrawal symptoms that I experienced before having v to go to EMS because it frightened my girlfriend with my spasms . Currently right now I feel like before but nauseated and hot like a fever ( side effects ) but like a my brain is trying to focus on what to do because I can't myself stopping myself breathing not on purpose cause I know it effects your serotonin and that effects your brain function however all ems did was an x-ray on my chest and lungs not my head or anyone. I just wanted to figure out with the side effects I feel how long is this normal and treatments I can to help myself get better and through it . Thanks you again. Honestly it is frightening

Hi there. I too had most of the side effects going on CIT. Except nausea. I am now 6 weeks in and most have past but I do still get the shakes in the morning and also am a bit forgetful. Same advice. If you are told to continue then persevere. It can be very uncomfortable for the first 4 weeks but it does ease. I am on 20mg daily and take them as soon as I wake up. I also took Valium for the first 2 weeks to help with the side effects but I was signed off work for 5 weeks. Am now on a phased return.

    Thx
