Celiac or IBS?

I am 18 years old and over a year ago I started experincing diarrhea, bloating, very very bad abdominal pain and gas after eating food such as McDonalds, KFC, most Chinese food, pasta, pizza and now alcohol. I also began fainting and had blurry vision, fatigue and headaches. Blood test results came back positive for severe B12 and Iron defiencies. I was on a high dose of iron tablets and have to have B12 injections every 3 months.

Tests began for celiac disease, however, the blood tests came back as a false negative due to a IgA deficiency. I then underwent an endoscopy and am awaiting the results. My GP believes it is celiac disease but my Gasto consultant is sure it is IBS. As I await the results fro the procedure I have been told to take IBS medication. however, have not seen any improvements and have ctually started to react to eating ceral and milk.

Does it sound like IBS or Celiac Disease? Please Help smile

Forgot, I also got a rash on my back in August but was diagnosed as being shingles. A very familiar rash has now been occuring on my chest, back and thighs. I told my GP who got a second opinion and continued to believe it wasn't related to my digestive problems.

You should wait and see what they say but it sounds more like Crohn's to me. Can cause skin problems too. I don't think ibs would result in the iron and b12 issue.

I have already been tested for Crohn's and the results came back negative. Recieved my Celiaic results today and again negative so has all been dismissed as IBS with my trigger being a wheat intolerance. I'm still not satisfied with the diagnosis as there are still so many things unanswered but my consultant was useless and I don't know what else to do /:

I'd think that plenty of "healthy" people could react to fast food like you mentioned.  However, you seem to have what my GI doc calls "malabsorption syndrome" since you're so low in multiple vitamins/minerals. Your symptoms seem more related to your absorption issues but I still think you should press for endoscopy with biopsies.  only then can you pinpoint what's really wrong or rule out CD.

    Good luck!
