Cervical cancer help?

Hi I'm 22 years old and have two children ( 1 + 2 ) I have been having some symptoms.

Bleeding after sex ( sometimes lasts a few days)

Pain during sex

Abdominal pain ( not all the time )

I have had my cervix checked from a doctor twice in a 6/7 month period and she has said on both occasions it looks normal but she is sending me for a propper check ( forgot what it's called sorry )

I am so worried that it's something serious I don't want nothing bad to happen to me in the past when I was younger I had the injections for cervical cancer but I know it doesn't fully protect can anyone help me by telling me honestly if I should be worried. Thankyou

I think that whatever anyone says to you,you will not stop worrying.. it is totally normal to worry about this sort of thing.    However, your symptoms are experienced by thousands of women every year and the majority of them will not have cancer,so the chances are that you dont have it either.    Put yourself in the hands of the specialists who will have a look, maybe organise some investigations and then you can be reassured.

The check you're going for is called a colposcopy where they use a machine that can magnify your cervix and get a better look. I've just been through it all myself and it is quite worrying. Every area is different as to what will happen during the colopscopy. They may just look, they may do a smear (I'm assuming you've not had one before due to your age) which is just a swab of the cells to check for changes, they may look for changes by applying ointment like iodine which will show any abnormal cells or the may take a tiny bit of your cervix and send off for tests. All are pretty painless but you can take someone with you if you're nervous.

It's more embarrassing then anything that someone is looking up your bits but it is an important thing to get looked at. Try not to worry until they've had a look and can give you some info about what might be going o .

    Good luck

Cervical cancer is very uncommon at your age. Further, cervical cancer is silent, usually all the way or at least until final stages.

You need to be examined for some STDs including gardenella which often causes symptoms you have. You also need to be checked for errosion of the birth canal and endometriosis.

I would not worry about cancer at this stage though.

    All the best.
