Cervical Erosion/Ectropion and PCOS

Hi All
I was just wondering if anyone had been diagnosed with Cervial Ectropion? After many months of being told my abnormal bleeding was just due to PCOS, I finally saw a GP to did a proper examination on my cervix today. She has said I have Cervical Ectropion and that I need a referral to a gynaecologist to have it cauterised. She did say they will have look and around and check everything else is fine, which worried me slightly that there was something she wasnt telling me. But knowing that she has referred me on a 4-6 week referral and not the 2 week referral reassures me a little.
Anyway, I was just wondeirng if this common with woman who have PCOS, the GP explained it was likely due to my hormones, since it usually happens in pregnancy or woman who are on the pill.
Any insight/advice/reassurance appreciated.

i am 24 years old and recently found out I have pcos, but without the syndrome, so the only symptoms I have is that my ovaries are covered in cysts. I went to my GP because I had irregular bleeding, regular periods but also bleeding after sex. They referred me to a Gynaecologist who examined me and told me I had Cervical Ectropion, I was placed on a waiting list for having it cauterised (not urgent list) the hospital rang about 2months later and told my they could fit me in earlia. I had to operation done 1 week ago. All went fine, done under general anesthetic, I wasn't too sore just mild cramps. I'm really hoping this will be the end of my bleeding problems as it's causing me to get really down, and I feel embaressed and sorry for my very amazing supportive boyfriend.
Just wanted you to know your not alone, as I have felt for years that I am.

Hopefully things will be better for you now.
Could I ask if they smear/biopsy any of the cells or was it obvious from examination that it was all normal tissue?
I was also wondering why the general anaesthetic, I had read that it is often done under local at a colposcopy?
I have my appointment on the 4th December so not too long to get to the next steps.
To not have that abnormal bleeding would be such a relief and make life so much easier!

yeah hopefully!
I had a pap/smear test back in January and again in May, all cells appeared normal. It wasn't until I was referred to an excellent gynaecologist who I saw in August that sent me for an internal ultra sound, they found I had polycystic ovaries and lots of them. And through these examinations they found I h e cervical erosion.
I had general anesthetic purely because I requested it and my doctor said that's fine some people prefer to be asleep, I am one of those people.
good luck for he 4th December I hope all gose well, it's a very very quick procedure and minimal pain afterwards just take some over the counter pain killers afterwards.
Oh I know, I'm just hopeing that will be the end of it, next I have to sort the cysts on my ovaries..... Just never ending....
