cervical ribs

I do not wish to scare anyone, but unless you have a good specialist it will take time for them to find what is wrong.

It took 2 1/2 years to find out what is wrong with me.

I had my left extra rib removed, and the other people are right it is a 50/50 chance of helping or paralysing you.

You must think hard before doing it!

I had a terrible time my op took 6 hours!

I was in very bad shape after because it was so difficult to remove.

The pain was quite bad, and I was unable to use my left arm/hand for 6 months.

I did have a bad case as my thumb nerve was impinged by the rib.

I have lost alot of the use of my thumb, but the pain is gone, as I can not feel it very much. It was also poking in my neck muscle.

You will always have a strange dull pain, where the rib was, and I have a numb tingly chest where the nerve was cut.

Ladies can also scar badly. It is quite a large scar, and can become knobbly and very raised.

Anyone who is thinking about getting their extra ribs removed must think about the lenght of time it takes to heal, and that you still will have some pain. I would not do it if it does not bother you every day.

My case was different as it was a perventative measure, because of the damage it was doing to my thumb and muscle.

I would say that on a good day 60/70% of the pain is gone.

You can still have bad days, but it all depends on the severity of your own condition.

We are all rare, the condition is higher in women, but it is still 1 /1million.

I have sympathy for all who have this, and I wish you all well.

Hi, I have a spare rib on both sides, one of which is large and as you, is affecting my arm, fingers and my thumb 24/7. Also I have pain in my neck, spine and muscles. Looks like I was one of the lucky ones, in which it’s only taken 2 years to diagnose. I'm waiting to go in and have the operation, which is 18th of June. They tell me there's a 30/40% chance that the pain will still be there. It’s a chance I need to take as its really unbearable now and I haven't worked for 6 months. I need to try and at least get back to work to keep my house ect.
