I have been having physio for severe cervical spondylitis for the last 9months and it hasn't made any difference. I have retired but still work 1 day per week I manage with painkillers but they don't move the pain altogether. Most of my pain is at the top of my spine and my head. What's the chance of the  operation being successful  have you seen a neurologist. It's a difficult choice if there is a chance it won't work good luck

Seen a neurosurgeon he can't guarantee the pain will be gone with a operation at c5/c6 and hasn't mentioned the rest of the cervical spine  I'm on pain killers but like you said the pain is still there

I remember my GP saying there is not a good success rate when you have surgery. I suppose you have to learn to manage the pain. It so frustrating when you can't do all the things you are used to. I find it difficult to sleep  pain I have tried all ways 1 pillow 2 pillows sitting up wearing a travel pillow nothing helps. I have recently  purchased a memory foam cervical pillow and it does help a bit. I hate taking pain killers every day but you are desperate to get rid of the pain. I suppose the only think you can do is take each day at a time. Thanks  Shaun for the info on the face book site I will join that. It makes you relize what a lot of people are suffering with this condition.

At the end of the day ashton it's all about pain relief ,if the meds you are on are not working ask your Gp for something else and tell your Gp it's not working ,I found the amitrip didn't do any thing for me as well ,don'tbe in pain ,and keep well

Yes it's all trial and error to see what suits each individual regarding pain my acupuncture does work for a short period of time

I also have cervical spondylosis. I have degenerated discs from c3-c7 with severe bone spurs from c2-c7. No surgeon is prepared to do a spinal fusion on all 4 discs as I will then no longer be able to move my neck. At present I can turn it a little to the left and a bit more to the right but it grinds badly. The clicking and cracking is horrible and I am on a lots of meds for pain relieve as I have 4 trapped nerves too plus I have lumbar disc degeneration too. I am finding my meds no longer work but an op is out of the question as it really is too risky rolleyes

It's hard to decide what to do regarding surgery I could tell  the surgeon was gonna do it as a last resort  and still couldn't guarantee it would stop my pain which is the main issue I'm doing the acupuncture because I must say it does take the edge off the pain

Will have to see how the increased dosage effects me got some really weird crunching noises all,the time but I can feel more pain in my legs now still doing the acupuncture even if it just takes the edge of the pain
