CFS possible Fibromyalgia - awaiting hospital appointment

Hi all, I've been off of work since mid September and I'm waiting for hospital appointment but the GP is positive that I have CFS with some symptoms of Fibromyalgia.  I have read through some of the posts and I too find it frustrating that even those who mean well can't understand about the fatigue.  I've tried to explain I don't just feel tired but I also have aching in my back, my neck, my legs.  I have trouble trying to sleep and my legs (especially knees when I'm trying to get to sleep) constantly ache.  As I say I'm waiting for the final diagnosis from the hospital and I'm wondering what to expect from the first appointment.  Any advice anyone?  Thanks in advance confused

Everything else was ruled out. I had a thyroid test which was negative.

    Hi Keely,

Do make sure you have a vitamin D deficiency test and check the results yourself. I found that the D3 supplements over many months helped with the worst pain a lot although didn't help with fatigue. I was defiecient for a long time without my former GP pointing out that i neede treatment for my deficient levels. Though be careful as some D3 can ve very allergenic because they contain peanut oil which can easily go rancid.

Neck pain improved when I changed my sleeping position from lying on my stomach to sleeping on my back or side.

Eating more good quality protein with every meal helps a bit with the energy levels.

Hope any of this is relevant.

    Hi Keely40239,

CFS and ME are different most people lump them together as one condition including Doctors but they are not… Have a look at the Hummingbirds Foundation for ME web site they have a list of each condition and you will be able to see the difference if you have ME or CFS this could help the Doctors diagnose your condition better and give you the help and support you need.
