CFS Specialists in the uk

Posted , 7 users are following.

I'm rapidly losing hope. I spent the whole weekend in bed watching my life pass me by as I couldn't bring myself to do anything else.

I've seen so many "specialists" who end up running a load of tests, offer expensive supplements and either make my condition worse or it stays the same and I'm just left out of pocket. I research places people recommend to me and see articles about these so called doctors and specialists being hauled up in front of the medical board for misconduct or reviews from previous patients saying how they were conned or left in a worse state than when they began.

It's hard to remain hopeful when you feel like you've tried everything.

Are there any doctors who get results who are worth seeing in the UK? Happy for people to message me directly if you aren't allowed to name names on this forum.

Thanks in advance

    Hi

Personally I'd be vary of anyone who claims to be able to 'cure' your ME/CFS. I wasted a lot of time, money and energy in the past trying different therapists who all claimed they could help me and it made no difference. In fact some of the thing made me a lot worse! I actually started to improve when I stopped wasting my energy trying all the different things. The things I've found most helpful are pacing myself, healthy balanced diet, listening to guided relaxations, setting myself small goals, gentle stretching/yoga when I can manage it and avoiding stress when possible. Try focusing on what you 'can' do rather than what you 'can't' do. It's not the life we wanted but it's still possible to lead a decent life with this illness. I was bedbound originally but have improved a lot since then and now on good days can meet friends, go to shops and walk my dog. I also know two other people with CFS/ME who improved so don't give up hope.

Good luck with finding something that helps!
