CFS, viruses and trauma.

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with CFS and small fibre neuropathy in November last year after not being well since 2014.

I also have vestibular migraine which also developed in 2014 and IBS which started last summer.

I've not had a virus or infection of any kind.

I've had emotional trauma although it was 4 years after that event my first symptoms appeared.

Has anyone else had CFS start years after a trauma?

My husband thinks it's all related.

Thank you for reading.

    Hi

I haven't quite worked out how I got CFS but I think it was more trauma than virus, although I know a lot of peoples symptoms start after a virus.

I had a chest infection or virus, was bed ridden for 2 weeks and lost weight due to not being able to eat  but recovered and was fine after 3 weeks. A year after that, I had a series of traumatic circumstances, and developed depression and insomnia. Depression lasted for about 4 years and as I was getting over depression I started getting my symptoms so, I put my cfs down to either the virus I had approx 4 years previous or the trauma followed by depression/insomnia.

From what I have seen and heard from other cfs sufferers I think you can develop m.e/cfs after trauma.

    Best wishes

Here's hoping it disappears without any real explanation too 😁.
