Chalky Poo

I am a 22 year boy from London. I have had for the last few days chalky white poo. I have not taken any medication or change diet, the whole poo is white.

I would go and see a doctor as soon as you can, if you have not been taking any medication that might cause it, as your bile may be being blocked from getting through.

There are Walk in NHS Health Centres in London open seven days a week.

     Google came up with this:

White stool isn't normal and should be evaluated promptly by a doctor. White stool is caused by a lack of bile, which may indicate a serious underlying problem.

Bile is a digestive fluid produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Stool gets its normal brownish color from bile, which is excreted into the small intestine during the digestive process. If the liver doesn't produce bile or if bile is obstructed from leaving the liver, stool will be light colored or white.

Often the problem occurs in the tube (duct) that delivers the bile to the small intestine. This tube can be squeezed shut or blocked — for example, by a tumor or a gallstone — which prevents the bile from entering the small intestine. Some babies are born with constricted bile ducts. Liver diseases, such as hepatitis and cirrhosis, also can sometimes cause white stool.

Are you in any pain, did this happen suddenly?  It does point towards gall bladder problems.  Go and see a doctor as soon as possible.

Try not to worry and, good luck!

    Hi Shyboy

I think you should visit your doctor asap, because your poo should not be white, as you know and something must be stopping the colour from getting to it. I hope its nothing seriously wrong, and the doctor can put your mind at rest okay hun.wink

All sorted I had fatty deposit in my toilet session, it was not chalky so they told me. Apparently mucus and fatty stuff that the body was expelling from a bowel infection. I feel so stupid now.

I'm so glad it was nothing serious and, you should never feel stupid for checking something like that.
