CHAMOMILE TEA

Ok peeps. Ive been struggling for OVER TEN BLOODY YEARS. Sorry, im an aussie. Ive FINALLY found the curr for my anxiety - well, not a cure but a prevention.

In addition to a few other life changes, the simple addition of drinking chamomile tea when i wake up, at lunch and at bedtime has left me so chilled that the possibility of my chronic anxiety and panic attacks returning is impossible. Hard to believe, but it actually worked.

I was legit f*cked up. I had two adverse reactions to anxiety medication - fluvoxamine and lexapro - i was left bedridden in the middle of my law exams and i had no choice but to go. I couldnt get out of bed. A friend recommended chamomile as she had anxiety around exams. I thought it was a joke because my anxiety was so severe nothing would cure it. I took four weeks off work and ended up broke. But anyway, i tried the chamomile. Pretty much instantly i was relieved of anxiety and still am to this day. I cant explain it but it works.

All im doing in addition to the tea is 2 x epsom salt/magnesium baths a week, limited alcohol, healthy eating and REFUSING to add a second fear to my thoughts. It works! Oh and sometimes a 20 min youtube meditation but i havent done one for a while. The main thing is i SLOWED down. I stopped to smell the roses.

I hope this can help someone else...!

Hi, yea I feel like I did before the anxiety started , probably not completely cured I still get the odd occasion when I can feel it creeping in slightly but there few and far between, I've had 2 x 12 sessions of cbt last year and even that didn't seem to make me any better, I just couldn't concentrate on anything And had every symptom you can imagine I honestly thought I was going to die, as soon as I started drinking camomile tea everything seemed to change I thought surely it can't be that simple, but I think I'll drink it forever more now, take care. Yeah, I've found chamomile tea helpful. When the anxiety was really bad in December, I also took valerian root capsules.

Hey I have had good results with it as well, cannot comprehend whether it's a placebo effect or not heck at least it helps.

I was on Lexapro for week to treat anxiety but it made things twenty times worse than they were, so my GP told me to stop taking it and for short term gave me a script for Diazepam when I become panicky.

But you always start at the bottom and work your way up from there, I am hoping that there is something that isn't bad to help relieve my anxiety and depression.

Actually just reading up on chamomile, it binds to the GABA receptors at synapses in the brain, which would rightfully explain it's anxiolytic effects.

I took Lexapro once and then stopped. I know the increased anxiety is supposed to be temporary, but I couldn't stand the thought of waiting that out for however many weeks, and then having to find out whether it works or not. And the doctor is reluctant to prescribe a benzodiazepam, so things like the tea are useful for me.

Same here, it was just way to intense to put up with every second of the day, I'm hoping I'll respond better to other SSRI medications but I have my doubts.

And Benziodiazepenes, like Diazepam, are a little too effective for myself so I'd prefer less dependable alternatives.

      Sorry Benzodiazepenes*

I get the sense that the drugs are just a random guess. "Here take this, I have no idea if it works, and neither will you for 6-8 weeks. In fact, you'll probably feel worse for much of that, but once you're through it, you might find it works. If not, you'll have to go through the process of tapering off, which, yeah, you're gonna hate. Then we'll repeat the process. Sound good?" I know, I'm exagerrating, and I know they work great for many people. Just so far, I haven't noticed my own chemistry responding well to anything but benzos and non-pharmaceutical aids (cham tea, breathing, writing, etc).
