Posted , 3 users are following.

I've been taking champix for 5 weeks now and am extremely suicidal, aggressive, agitated, unpredictable, paranoid etc etc I have stopped champix 2 days ago how long does it take to get back to myself or do I need to get antidepressants I am at my wits end here I would rather smoke 60 a day than be like this! I'm impossible to live with and have no desire to stay alive..?

When will they be out of my system and I can think straight again?

    Hi louise10563

We note from a recent post which you have made to our forum that you may be experiencing thoughts around self-harm. If we have misinterpreted your comments then we apologies for contacting you directly. But if you are having such thoughts then please note that you are not alone in this, and there are people out there that can help.

If you are having these suicidal thoughts then we strongly recommend you speak to someone who may be able to help. The Samaritans offer a safe space where you can talk openly about what you are going through. They can help you explore your options, understand your problems better, or just be there to listen.

Their contact details are on our patient information leaflet here: https://patient.info/health/dealing-with-suicidal-thoughts, which also offers lots of other advice on how you can access the help you may need.

If you are having such thoughts then please do reach out to the team at the Samaritans (or the other people detailed in our leaflet) who will understand what you're going through and will be able to help.

    Kindest regards

hi louise, best advice i can give after having similair symptoms etc is stop them immediately

You should certainly seek advice from a doctor asap. I am not sure how long they take to get out of your system but I did have to stop them once because I was so cranky, im lucky I still have my job. I remember it was not too too long before that rage dissipated. You should not need antidepressants if you were fine before taking this medication. I am going to assume after 5 weeks, it will probably take a good week or two to get back to normal. Certainly follow up with a gp right away. They may have to give you something that is fast acting to help, only while the Champix is coming out of your system. also antidepressants take weeks to work, so if anything it would be something fast acting like I mentioned.
