Chances for catching HIV. Lots of symptoms (all of them)

I am male, 26 years old. I had unprotected one night stand (vaginal + oral, 4 times in the same night) with a girl from Bulgaria. During the intercourse, I noticed that I had two small wounds on the shaft from rough oral sex. I know that this increases the chances of HIV.

After five days, I started to notice small red dots on the head of my penis. After few days they become a little bigger and after few more days there was redness on the head on the penis and on the shaft. There were no more bumps. I took Canesten and the redness disappeared, but when I stooped, it shows again.

I made CBC test after day 8, WBC = 6,9; LYM% = 0,228; LYM# = 1.6; MXD% = +0.121

I was very scared because LYM were low.

In the same time when the red dots appeared (5 days after the unprotected sex) I had a sore throat with wet cough. Also, I got diarrhea.

I went to the doctor and he prescribed antibiotics (Zinnat). The coughing stopped after the antibiotics, but the sore throat remains. I also took DiaStop (for the diarrhea). The diarrhea stopped 3 days after.

The next 2 days (6 to 8 days after) I had slightly high temperature, often 37.2C and 37.3C, and once 37.5C (measured under the arm). After this, I hadn't got high temperature ( 37C max)

9 days after the intercourse, I had all body itching, no rash, but very hot skin.

10 days, redness to the chest. Also, pain in the chest.

11 days, white spots on the tongue, lasted only day or two.

13 / 14 / 15 days, night and day sweats on the hands and feet, not very strong at night. Diarrhea is back, because I stopped the diet.

Next days I had sore throat. The diarrhea comes and goes.

16 - 26 days: sore throat, twitching in abdomen and occasional diarrhea. I started to feel lymph nodes enlargement on the neck, but I am not sure.

I made CBC after 25 days,  WBC = 6,5; LYM% = 0,236; LYM# = 1.5; MXD = 4.7

I am waiting for 30 days to get tested (HIV COMBO), but with all this symptoms + the blood results I am sure that I am HIV+.

I am very afraid, constantly stressed, I can't work or do anything without thinking of HIV.

Do you think that I have a chance to be HIV-? What else can cause all this symptoms?

Thank you.

How can we know?  i would guess highly highly unlikely!  In UK HIV/AIDS is very much still confined to bisexuals/gays/drug abusers and their parners [of course]. Transmission in heterosexual community is more common I think Male to Female.  It is highly unlikely I'd say that she was a prostitute as she would else have made you use a condom. You have done what is needed in that you have seen a doctor who has dealt with any possible current problems.

For the future if you are so concerned you must consider using protection

The fact that she was Bulgarian is of no consequence I think.

Hi Dimiar, fear and stress will cause many of these sympoms. Do not decide your HIV status by symptoms alone - and definitely not from information from the internet... The only way to know for sure is to be tested after the suggested time, post contact. Typically 60 and 90 days. Try to stay calm because - again your symptoms could be anything as well as stress related. Good Luck, Matt

Good news, I tested HIV negative (HIV 1 & 2 Antibody + p24 Antigen test) after 30 days.

I am still worried because I still have all the symptoms. Maybe my body still haven't created HIV antibodies because I have low lymphocite count.

Have you seen negative HIV 1 & 2 Antibody + p24 Antigen test turn positive after 3 months?

When should I test again? 6 weeks or 3 months?

    Thank you.

Great News!  Testing at 6wk's or 3mo's is a personal choice that may or may not help ease your concern. Many artices say 3 months should be enough time for anibodies to show. However there have been RARE cases that have shown 6 mo's to 1 yr. Personally I don't have sex and wait to test at the 3 month mark. I figure the result will be the same either way and the time passes the same. Hang in there..

Hey just a question, I know that this was a couple years ago but I was wondering if you ended up still being negative for hiv?
