Chances of getting pseudomonas?

Greetings,

I've had BX since 2014 with MSSA colonized. I'm wondering what the chances are of also catching pseudomonas - Is it inevitable? Does anyone with pseudomonas remember how the caught it?

Thanks!!

There is good news on pseudomonas in April 4, 2017 Bronchiectasis News Today.  .........we used a process known as plasmapheresis that is somewhat like kidney dialysis. The plasmapheresis involved the removal, treatment, and return of blood plasma from circulation, and was done five times in a week in order to remove antibody from the patients.“We then replaced antibodies with those from blood donations. This treatment restored the ability for the patients’ blood to kill their infecting Pseudomonas,” De Soyza added.

When the patients had the specific antibody removed from their bloodstream through the technique plasmapheresis, they both experienced a rapid improvement in disease symptoms and well-being, as well as a greater independence and improved mobility.

I hope I didn't over inflate the article I referred to on Bronchiectasis News Today.  It works and that is wonderful!  However, we don't know how long it will be to get to patients with disease.  Be hopeful however, because it is another medical  breakthrough and that is what we want to see, if not for us,  for our children. We don't want others  to go through what patients with pseudomonas have endured. I will pray for a quick entry of plasmapheresis into the medical community for respiratory diseases. Pray and pass it on.

    ?Blessings,

Mary Ann, you are so right when you said to pray! This is all in Gods' hands. The one big thing I am thankful for is that pseudamonas and bronch have led me to a great relationship with the Lord! I may not have had it otherwise. The article was promising for future treatments. Thank you for bringing awareness😊

    Hi

I feel like sharing my experience. My aunt got Pseudomonas infection while she was stuck with lung disease at the hospital. This infection gets into people who have low immune system. Antibiotics are used to treat this and this infection could be fatal in people who are already very ill. So we were very afraid.

There are many cases where patients get this so often. The bacteria can be spread in hospitals through the hands of healthcare workers, or by hospital equipment that is not properly cleaned.

I was just wondering what hospitals can do for that? There are HEPA and ULPA filters capable of killing microbes including MSRA. I think the implementation of such facilities will help reduce the spread of this disease in hospitals. Thank you.

Yes, I know exactly how.  They gave me a bronchoscopy with an unclean instrument.  Within days I became deathly ill with pseudomonas.  They take no responsibility.  Had intravenous antibiotics for 5 days in the hospital and months of antibiotics which I had to eventually stop taking due to a reaction and it has been downhill ever since.
